Silk Spectre II
Laurie Juspeczyk, a.k.a Silk Spectre II, is the daughter of Sally Jupiter/ Silk Spectre I and Blake Edward/ The Comedian. Laurie was reluctantly brought up to be a crime fighter by her mother, with whom she has a strained relationship.
Her vigilante superhero career led her towards a love affair with fellow costumed superhero Jon Osterman/ Dr. Manhattan, who has superhuman abilities. Silk Spectre II is a free-thinking woman who is vocal in her feminist and humanitarian concerns, and is a super-skilled fighter who can take on many adversaries at once.
Silk Spectre II was happy to quit her vigilante superhero ways when the Keene Act of 1977 forced all but government-sponsored superheroes to retire. Shortly after this, she ended her relationship with Dr. Manhattan and fell in love with Nite Owl II/ Dan Dreiberg.
She returned to vigilantism in 1985, along with Nite Owl II, to free Rorschach/ Walter Kovacs from prison. And despite their romantic differences, she convinces Dr. Manhattan to return to earth from Mars to help them on their quest to save themselves, and humanity from an impending nuclear war.
