Ozymandias
Adrian Veidt, a.k.a Ozymandias, is known as the "Smartest Man in the World," and is a self-made business tycoon. He is also a master of martial arts, acrobatic and metaphysical arts, which make him a force to be reckoned with.
Fueled by his insatiable desire for greatness, Veidt based his alter ego on his idol Alexander the Great, and the great Pharaoh Ramses II (named Ozymandias in Greek). His goal: to become the world’s savior.
Ozymandias retired his crime-fighting costume before the passage of the Keene Act of 1977 (outlawing all vigilante crime fighting), and went public with his identity. Feeding on the fame that followed, he presented himself as a master showman and wealthy philanthropist.
He came out of retirement once he realized vigilante crime fighters alone could not deal with the world’s evil ways. He concocts an elaborate scheme to "save the world from itself" (a belief built on the notion that killing millions to save billions is for the greater good) which forces Silk Spectre II, Nite Owl II and Rorschach to question his plan, which fatally impacts the superheroes and the world.
